Internet gambling is a truly mobile activity

December 2nd, 2008 by admin

The percentage of the world’s population that moves from their country of origin and emigrates to another is less than 5%.  That still means that there are a lot of people moving from place to place, though living as we do in technologically advanced times that sense of dislocation is no longer as keenly felt as once it was.  Internet gambling has benefited greatly from this technology too.

It might be that you had a fixed poker game with your buddies from college, or maybe you and your partner liked to play Texas hold’em with your neighbors, but unfortunately one or other of you has moved away.  Previously, at least before the advent of internet gambling, it would have been impossible to play with your former partners if you were not in the same room, let alone the same State or country.  Internet gambling has come on in such leaps and bounds that time zones permitting, you can be on the mainland USA and they can be in Japan, for example and you can still set up a game.

If all parties join a particular online casino site, your internet gambling activities need not be unduly curtailed.  You can set up your own private poker room, with password protection and invite only entry.  At the same time as playing, there is usually a chat function, so that you can kick back, catch up and talk about the games you used to play before internet gambling transformed your lives.

Play Free Backgammon Variants Online

November 11th, 2008 by admin

Backgammon is a great game and people play it all over the world.  Now, when you and I think about backgammon we are probably thinking about the traditional rules that you see on the pro tour, but did you know there are also other variants that can be a lot of fun.

It’s true.  I found this out playing internet backgammon and saw an advertisement for a different style.  It was at a free backgammon site, so it was risk free.  I found several variants of backgammon meaning you played by different rules.    For example, there is a variant called acey-ducey where you start with all of your checkers off the board and bear them on and there is another variant called Russian backgammon where you and your opponent start with checkers off the board and start at the same section racing to the same home board; that one is a lot of fun.  There are more and the best part is free backgammon sites offer them so you can play the ones you like risk free.

I think the backgammon variants are a really great way to shake up the game, especially for long time players.  I stick to traditional style when I’m playing for money but when I want  a break from competition and just want to mess around and have fun I look to the free backgammon sites and different variants of the game.  It’s a lot of fun and I think playing by different rules has even helped me become a better backgammon player by making me learn new strategies, rules, and understand the game better

Be a Pro with Online Casino Gambling

October 1st, 2008 by admin

It seems everywhere you turn today, someone is playing poker.  It’s the rage on college campuses and it seems there’s always a celebrity poker tournament showing on TV.  And, if you pay attention, you’ll also start to hear a lot of the players talk about online casino gambling.

It’s an open secret these days that the world’s best poker players play online.  Online casino gambling just offers too many benefits for serious players not to want to be in on the action.  Sure, there is the image of the big players showing up at a casino table and magically winning everything, but the truth is, nothing happens by magic.  The best players are logging on to online casinos to try out new strategies and perfect the old ones.  From what I’ve read they also use the anonymity to try their luck at new casino games.  I guess everyone has a reputation to keep these days.

So, we should not be brushing aside advice when we watch TV poker players openly endorse online casinos.  I happen to think online casino gambling makes all the sense in the world.  I mean, I haven’t given up my trips to the live tables, but, it’s not like I can make the drive out there at any time.  I use online casino games to improve my skills, learn strategy, and get great tips from online gamblers.  That way, when I hit the live tables, I won’t be embarrassing myself.  It’s also nice using the money I win online to pay for my trips.  Online casino gambling is a win-win situation we should all be taking advantage of.

A casino bonus by any other name….

September 7th, 2008 by admin

The prospect of a casino bonus is often one of the first things that lure us to a particular online casino or internet gambling site.  Sure, we want to play great games, have fun in tournament play, get to know other people (even a little bit) from far and wide across continents and seas, but above it all, we want to get something for nothing.  That is where the casino bonus comes into its own.

Which form that casino bonus takes, will vary from online casino to online casino – and the beauty is that you would have to search pretty hard, to not find something that you felt was appropriate!  With so many online casinos touting for new business, one of the simplest ways to entice new players is by offering a bumper casino bonus initially.  Once you’re signed up, that’s a different story, but to get you to register in the first place – now that is the goal.  Incentives can range from a matched account (i.e. you start off by putting $150 in, you’ll actually be playing with $300), a percentage of your initial wager or some other inducement that just seems to good to resist.

So you’ve chosen your casino bonus, registered, what happens now, do the casino bonuses cease to flow?  After the first flurry of activity has subsided, you might think that an online casino will no longer be interested in you.  That is the exact opposite of the situation.  It’s not reasonable to expect continuous bonuses, but there are loyalty bonuses and any online casino worth its salt, is going to want to keep all its customers satisfied.

Backgammon community online

August 6th, 2008 by admin

Backgammon, the world’s most popular board game, has been played and enjoyed for centuries. Bringing with it a mixture of skill, tactics whilst requiring a dash of good fortune, playing backgammon is also a social event. Picture a scene still taking place today that has been witnessed throughout the centuries as long as backgammon has been played and enjoyed. A crowd is gathered around a table in a small village square watching two players pit their wits against each other.

The crowd enjoys the sway of every move and comment on every tactic employed by these two worthy opponents. Eventually a winner is declared, sometimes money changes hands and complements are passed to the winner and commiserations to the loser.  You would think that with the advent of online backgammon gaming, this scene would be a thing of the past. However the opposite is the truth.

The majority of backgammon web sites pull out all the stops to provide the maximum backgammon play experience online provides a variety of tools and service to foster backgammon communities online. The game of backgammon lends itself so well to the internet and the reasons to play backgammon online are well recorded and numerous. However there is no reason to lose the community spirit that makes playing backgammon such an enjoyable pastime.

Modern internet technology allows the online backgammon player to choose how he wants to play, either against an individual opponent, or to take part in either backgammon tournaments or leagues.

However the online backgammon community spirit is enhanced by the fact that you can chat online with your opponent during the game. Most modern software will provide you with a picture of your opponent along with some information of his or her background. Your backgammon opponent will be also being able to view similar personal information on you if you wish, as well as your recent play history

To make your online backgammon experience even more communal, you can invite or allow other players or spectators who are online to join your chat room, creating a virtual version of the village square scene of the backgammon match described earlier. The only difference that the onlookers at your backgammon match are inhabitants of the global village. They may have come from anywhere in the World.   You can visit these chat rooms even if you are not taking part in a game, and chat with friends old and new from across the globe on a variety of subjects, not even related to backgammon. You get to know the culture of people in foreign countries that you might otherwise never have come across.

Another key ingredient in the building of a backgammon community on line is the participation in forums. These forums allow players to be kept up to date on what’s going on, which web sites that are worth visiting or to stay away from, promotions, prizewinners and a variety of other facts and figures.

Online backgammon communities are a reality and are growing with the game’s popularity spreads.
